The Telemark Skiers Who Saved the World

In 1942, Lt. Joachim Ronneberg led a team of Norwegian skiers and resistance fighters on a raid against a German facility working on atomic bomb materials in the Telemark region of Norway. Ronneberg died this week in 2018, in Norway, aged 99. We covered the story of their raid last year in one of our most-read Historical Badass features. We’re reposting it here in honor of Ronneberg.
