2025 AMGA Annual Report

In 2025, the AMGA commenced a 5-year strategic plan that will provide direction and focus for the organization through 2029. The plan drives mission-driven initiatives that will increase public land access for guides, advertise the value of AMGA training and certification to the public, review and evaluate AMGA risk management practices, improve accessibility to AMGA courses and exams, establish financial practices that support long-term AMGA financial health, and modernize AMGA Mountain Guide Program curriculum and educational practices to meet the evolving needs of students.

The AMGA made strong progress toward these goals in 2025. The AMGA launched a new website that strengthens AMGA’s ability to communicate the story of guide education, standards, and industry professionalism. The AMGA Ski Guide Program underwent a comprehensive review—with input from the AMGA membership—that sets the stage for significant program enhancements including direct entry to the AMGA Ski Guide Course. In the Climbing Instructor Program, Rock Climbing: The Official AMGA Single Pitch Manual was completely revised and updated, and will be available for purchase in the spring of 2026. To support student learning, eleven new alpine guiding videos were released as part of the Mountain Skills Series sponsored by GORE-TEX Brand.

These initiatives—and the strategic plan behind them—demonstrate the AMGA’s commitment to continuous innovation in service to the public, guides, and the industry. I invite you to keep reading to learn more about AMGA progress in 2025—and the promising future ahead.
