Active Involvement
Recognizing that early-stage companies need nurturing
and assistance, we seek to create an effective partnership to support
entrepreneurial vision. Boulder Ventures' partners have direct operational
experience, as well as consulting careers, thereby providing a wealth
of knowledge and experience to benefit our portfolio companies. We
apply these company-building skills in operations, marketing, sales,
human resources and finance to each company, as needed.
Importantly, each General Partner has a limited number of Board commitments,
in order to assure his availability to assist the entrepreneur.
Because information on all portfolio companies is shared among all
investment professionals in a “continuous information loop”,
collective knowledge and experience of the BV team is available at
all times.
We
help to build-out the management team, refine product concepts, create
an appropriate capital structure to facilitate growth, establish
a market strategy, develop strategic alliances and partnerships and,
ultimately, achieve financial success.

we are truly local to two of the top venture markets. Boulder Ventures'
Partners are thus easily accessible to our portfolio companies
at all times, especially during initial periods of growth and development.

resulting from our visibility to leading edge opportunities on
both East and West Coasts as well as technologists and financial
resources nationwide, is unique among early-stage investment firms.
Technical Expertise
Boulder Ventures' partners recognize the potential
of novel ideas. We provide the technical expertise needed to move
an idea to the next level. Additionally, we help with the product
definition and differentiation and protection of intellectual property.
Network of Industry Experts
Renowned entrepreneurs who serve as EIRs and Venture
Partners form the core of Boulder Ventures' extensive network of
industry contacts. Each of the EIRs and Venture Partners has a
proven track record building successful companies. Additionally,
through our extended family of entrepreneurs, investors and investment
professionals, we provide valuable contacts - nationally and internationally.
Boulder Ventures' partners and portfolio companies are able to
secure the connections, business know-how and experience needed
to build successful companies.
Financing
Boulder Ventures generally leads the deal, attracting additional
financing and structuring the investment. In an effort to meet the
specific needs of each company, we draw from a long list of fellow
private, corporate and institutional venture capital. These equity
sources have been developed over years of successful and collegial
co-investing.
Initial financing commitments ordinarily range from
$1 to $4 million; ideally, Boulder Ventures likes to invest between
$5 and $10 million in a company throughout its life cycle. We expect
to provide follow-on capital in later rounds of equity financing.
Through
our contacts, we also arrange mezzanine financing, bank loans, leasing
and other capital. We also act as a representative for, and advisor
to, our portfolio companies throughout the exit process, whether
by sale or IPO.
